System-Wide Monitoring Program Technician
As the System-Wide Monitoring Program Technician, Sophia works to support the National Estuarine Research Reserve’s System-Wide Monitoring Program (SWMP) and additional research programs within the Reserve. Sophia is originally from Moose Lake, Minnesota and currently lives in Duluth, Minnesota where she received her Bachelors of Biology and Bachelors of Political Science from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Sophia has interests in pursuing further education in Environmental Policy or Environmental Law. In addition to her scientific background Sophia has specialties in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in which she uses for spatially analyzing environmental issues. In addition to her work at the reserve Sophia works as a project coordinator for a non profit aimed at increasing biodiversity awareness and conservation. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, canoeing, and birding.
